RGraph – An HTML5 Canvas graph library

August 1, 2010 @ No Comments

Ever seen web graphical dashboards. Say Google Analytics dashboard. I mean the interactive ones. Yes, they need Flash. Or those stupid Applets. Well, not anymore. HTML5, as always, is the savior of the web, and HTML5 Canvas aims to do what that. What is need right now are tools and development environments that could make it easy for developers and designers alike to work with the technology in a pain free manner.

So, RGraph could be one such tool, a graph library. The latest stable release marks the start of more frequent, monthly cycle for a quicker turn-around time for new features. Some of the features in the release include:

  • MSIE9 support (post preview 3): Screenshot (#1, #2, #3)
  • A “snap” tooltip effect for graphs, where tooltips are triggered using the onmousemove event
  • A custom event support. There’s just a small number of events at the moment, the most useful of which perhaps is the ontooltip event. This makes showing graphs in tooltips much easier.
