Most HTML5 authoring tools sold by Adobe?

April 24, 2010 @ 2 Comments

Adobe logoAdobe is a company known for its standards: PDF, SWF and PSD, all can be related to one company. Adobe has said in the past that HTML5 could hamper its company’s position, especially its Flash platform, which is an unofficial standard for web video today. The adamant position of Apple to not allow Flash on its devices has made matters worse for Adobe, with so many sites starting to support HTML5 video just for a single device called iPad.

So, what would be the best strategy for Adobe now? Embrace HTML5 with full commitment or at least keep up with its development. And that’s what it is exactly planning to do. We earlier reported how Adobe allows conversion from Flash to HTML5. Chief Strategist for Creative Solutions Mark Randall notes that Adobe fully supports the emerging open standard. Much of the authoring tools for HTML5 are sold by Adobe, so there is an upside for the company. See the video below for the full interview:

There's more to Flash than video. How do I do cartoons in HTML5 without having to write it out as code (something an artist isn't very good at) Are there any HTML5 authoring programs on the horizon?

Ok disregard. I haven't seen CS5 yet, I checked out the video through the 'conversion from flash to html5' link above. Still a bummer it won't be allowed on Apple mobile device, but SJ gives his reasoning here. The world is changing I guess.
